Since age five I have played soccer. However, it wasn't until I began playing club ball, that my enjoyment of the game became a love and passion. I started out as a goalie, then moved to defense during middle school. In the off seasons I have played the midfield and forward positions. I enjoy the game of soccer to the point where I thrive to play both collegiate and professionally. I can and will play any position on the field however, I am ultimately a defender at heart. I can move the ball quickly, find space needed, and I can place the ball accurately during free kicks. I am extremely coachable and love to learn better tactics, and of course increase my foot skills. Not only can I play well, I also understand the game. I attribute this characteristic to my father; who taught me you can't just be one position minded, you must understand the work that goes into each position and how it effects the team as a whole.
Academically, during my freshman year I obtained my goal of a 3.5 GPA, ending the year with a 3.9: placing me 42 in my class of 212. I was also accepted into the National Society of High School Scholars program. In my upcoming high school years my goal is to increase my GPA each year, even if only by one point. I know the importance of being well rounded, having a plan for each chapter in my life, as well as setting, achieving and maintaining my short term and long term goals. All of this requires dedication and hard work on and off the field; basically, none of my goals can be attained without doing my due diligence.
Personally, the morals and ethics that have been instilled in me by my parents and church family, are the same that I use in my leadership skills on the field and inside the classroom. I believe you have to be more than just a good student or great player, you must also be a good person, especially when know one is looking!
Overall, I believe my love of the game, a passion to win, and desire to learn and lead make me a highly desirable player for any team. I look forward to the many years of playing soccer yet to come.
Respectively,
Devon Antoine
