My name is Carlos Lomena, and I am a determined, hard working, coachable and flexible player who can easily adapt and understand the game. I am a first generation immigrant in the United States, with my parents originating from Venezuela and Colombia. I am an honor student with a 4.2 GPA, attending Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. I was raised playing sports my entire life and up until my freshman year of highschool I was a two sport athlete playing both tennis and soccer. Playing tennis at the highest level and being nationally ranked, I understand playing sports in a very competitive environment. As I entered high school, my passion for soccer overtook any doubt in my mind and I decided to fully commit to the sport. My entire soccer career I have played at the highest level in multiple states such as Illinois, Ohio, and my current state of North Carolina. I currently start for the MLS Next Academy at Wake FC playing primarily as a winger, however I can play multiple attacking positions. Coming off a State Cup Championship last season, I have started off strong this current season with 8 goals in 6 games. Some of my strengths are my speed on and off the ball, my tenacity and aggressiveness, and my quick thinking on the field. It is my dream to continue to play after highschool for a University that fits both my academic goals and a place where I can improve as well as contribute to the program.
