Personal Statement
Winning the 3A North Carolina State Championship as a freshman has been the highlight of my high school career. Although what humbled me was being put on Junior Varsity during my sophomore year. This was heart breaking to say the least since I had worked very hard during the year to earn more playing time. For the first couple of practices I was embarrased to be on JV, but then the coach called me aside to talk to me about why this had happened. He said there were many upper class-men now on the team and it would inevitably lessen my playing time, and he needed me to play consistently so I could continue to improve. That year, I was made captain and played every game, and even though I wasn't on the team I was aiming to be, I became the leader and the example to follow for all the other players.
I am an outside midfielder/forward, very strong with both feet, and enjoy playing the high possession and first touch style of play. Fortunately, I have trained and played in Barcelona, Spain since 2013 with ISL Academy and clubs such as U.E. Cornella and Marcet Futbol Academy. In Summer 2018, I spent 5 weeks total playing with U.E. Cornella for two weeks, and with Marcet on a three week intensive residential elite program. I was invited to go back to Barcelona to play with U.E. Cornella Juvenil team B division for the Spring. Among the many things I can take from those experiences is the feedback I received during the three week training at Marcet. The coaches highlighted my eagerness to learn and were very impressed with my hard work and ability to adapt to the much faster pace of play.
My goal is to play for a school that values hard work, dedication, and leadership. I am looking for a program that fits my personality and feels like a second home to me. Academics is very important in my decision process and thus, I am hoping to find a school that will meet my academic goals and can benefit from my international experience while having me in their roster.
