My name is Dondrae Fells and I have a passion for playing all sports, with soccer being the most passionate of all. I am a confident, independent thinker, who has a thirst for knowledge, loves sports and exercise. I adapt easily to new cultures and I am not afraid to try new initiatives. For example, last year I played ultimate frisbee for the first time at my school and loved it. Presently, I am in grade 12 at a French school, Ecole du Carrefour, in the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM), Nova Scotia. In Grade 9, I was chosen as Athlete of the Year and was MVP for soccer and basketball since grade 7. I am an avid soccer player and passionate about the game. I have travelled to various provinces in Canada as part of the Nova Scotia Provincial team, to Costa Rica as a member of the Canada Games team in 2013, and throughout the United States as a member of the Provincial Team.
I have been on the Nova Scotia Provincial Team since the age of 12. I also refereed and volunteered with the U12 team. I was the MVP in 2011, 2012, 2013 for soccer; Rookie of the year for Basketball and MVP for Basketball in 2010 and 2011. I was also a member of the Volleyball team in 2013 and 2014 and the Ultimate Frisbee team in 2014. Even though I play several sports my passion continues to be in soccer. The positions I play are centre back, full back, and centre mid-field. My goal is to continue to improve, learn from the best, master the game and eventually play professional soccer.
To tell you a bit more about my journey and who I am; I grew up in a small community in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. At the age of 4 my parents enrolled me in soccer. I did not make the tier 1 teams when I first started out. One coach saw something in me that others did not see. This coach pushed and encouraged me to strive hard and believe in my skills. Initially, I was overlooked for Tier 1 teams, but after being recognized for my abilities, attitude, and for my agility I was offered a position on the Provincial team. Since that time I have trained with the Regional Training Centre (RTC) and the National Training Center since U12. My interest in the sport increases each day.
I am a student athlete who believes in receiving an education first. I work diligently to achieve my goal and I have high expectations for myself. I would like to complete an Arts degree in the field of sociology and/or business. My ultimate goal is to become a lawyer. In everything that I do I strive for excellence and go beyond what is expected. I want to play even if I am in pain. I am very respectful to my coaches and the instruction given to me. I am a very good listener, coachable, and ambitious and persistent. I have positive sportsmanship and am a team player.
