Personal Statement
I am a college athlete who is currently in the transfer portal looking for opportunities that will utilize my soccer skills to help create a winning team. The thought of not playing soccer is unimaginable, which is why I want to continue at the collegiate level.
During the fall season, I played 1251 minutes with 4 goals and 2 assists. The majority of the time I played defensive midfield but also played center-back and outside-back.
I have been passionate about playing soccer since I was a little kid. I was drawn to soccer as it gave me the opportunity to compete athletically and improve myself in the context of a team sport. Playing soccer at a competitive level taught me a variety of important life lessons. Teamwork – As the saying goes, there is “No “I” In Team.” Working as a team will allow all teammates to reach their goals. Sacrifice – To play at a competitive level there are times that hanging out with friends, watching TV, or playing video games must be missed. Missing these things helps the team meet their goals. Overcoming adversity - Life is not always fair. Getting through hard times helps to improve coping skills and helps the team not quit. Leadership – Encourages you to be the best you can be for yourself and your teammates.
Being part of a college team has taught me the importance of time management. Only having 5 home games out of 22 really showed me the lifestyle of a collegiate athlete. I worked extremely hard on and off the field while maintaining a 4.0 GPA
My coaches and I consider myself to be athletic, versatile, strong and a leader on the field. Additionally, I see the field very well. I am very coachable and work very hard for not only myself but for my teammates.
While in high school, I volunteered with the youth soccer camps as well as Peer Buddy, which is a summer camp where I served as a role model and provided academic and social guidance for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I will be available to help wherever I am needed.
I want to attend a college where I can continue to challenge myself on the field, in the classroom, and continue to learn more life lessons.
