Matthew Bradley’s personal statement
“I’ve been invited to trials with several professional academies, including teams in Greece’s top division and Italy’s second and third divisions. Most recently, I pursued an opportunity with the Primavera U21 team at Vis Pesaro in Serie C. My goal is to move to a professional academy after I graduate in 2027—unless I receive a strong university offer by then.
Recently in the OPDL, I played as a wingback, an out-of-position role, for Markham FC’s 2009 team. For part of the season, I was frequently moved up to compete with Markham FC 2008 OPDL boys.
In April of last year, I participated in an international tournament in France that brought together youth talent from around the world, including top Ligue 1 academies. I represented AnB 08 as an 09 in this event named Mondial St Pierre.
I made the varsity high school soccer team, but was unable to play due to boundary issues. I am a student in the high-performance athlete program at my school. This is a program which is designed for athletes who frequently go on trials, or have exceeded a certain ability in their sport. I faced restrictions that prevented me from competing because of this.
As a male athlete born in 2009, I run a sub-11-second 100 meter, a time verified by the York Region Runners Club.”
The Canadian born athlete has recently been recognized by a renowned coach Alberto Bollini as a promising talent for the future of Italy‘s youth national soccer program.
