“I am a Canadian-born athlete aiming to sign with a professional academy following my graduation in 2027—unless I receive a strong university offer by then.
I’ve been invited to trials with several professional academies, including clubs in Greece’s top division and Italy’s second and third tiers. Most recently, I trained with the Primavera U21 team at Vis Pesaro (Serie C), gaining valuable experience in a competitive professional environment.
In the 2023–2024 season, I played for Markham FC U16 in the OPDL, where I took on an out-of-position role as a wingback. I was also moved up during the season to compete with the Markham U17 side.
Prior to that, I represented AnB Futbol—playing a year up. This was in the Mondial St. Pierre—an international tournament in France featuring top Ligue 1 academies.
At school, I’m enrolled in the High-Performance Athlete program, designed for elite-level players who train and compete at a national or international level. Due to boundary and eligibility issues, I was unable to represent my varsity soccer team despite making the roster.
Although soccer is my main sport, I also compete in track and field. My verified 100m time is 10.90 seconds, recorded on Track Database—demonstrating my speed and explosiveness on the pitch.”
In 2024, Matthew was recognized by renowned Italian coach Alberto Bollini as a promising talent for the future of Italy’s youth national team program.
