My name is Ricardo Gonzalez and I play U19 League 1 Reserve for the North Toronto Nitros. I am a very composed player on the ball who is able to deal with high-pressure situations. One of my stronger traits in regard to my style is my distribution and playing out of the back. I have a good foundation of technique and dribbling which I use to escape out of tough situations. I also have a good range of long accurate passes that can be used to switch it across the field to my teammates. I have a good sense of awareness which I use to drive with the ball into space and pick out the right passes for my teammates. I am an active player on the ball who is always giving an option to my teammates when they are put under pressure. I am consistently communicating to my teammates and giving them positive encouragement which are essential traits of a team player. As a defender, I am physical and I have the ability to use my body properly such as shielding the ball and using my arms to slow down the opposing player in order to win 50/50 balls. My soccer IQ as a defender allows me to deal with bigger/stronger players and smaller/quicker players. I am consistently trying to improve on my weaknesses in order to keep developing as a player at a high level. Through my experiences on and off the pitch, I have learned what it means to be disciplined both in the classroom and on the field.
My aspiration as a student-athlete is to play at the highest college soccer where my education and development as a soccer player are being kept a high standard at all times.
