Prestyn Popovic '25 Recruiting Profile

I set high expectations for myself and always work my hardest to complete them.  “Crave the results so intensely that the work is irrelevant”. This quote by Tim Grover is what motivates me daily and helps me become the best version of myself.

Hi, my name is Prestyn Popovic and I am a soccer player and all-round athlete from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. At the age of 3, I kicked a soccer ball for the first time. Ever since this moment, I have developed a love and passion for the game. This passion has become my driving force in pursuing my soccer and academic goals.

I am currently playing as a central-midfielder for the Thunder Bay Chill reserve team. I have played for this club since the age of 4. My time and experience with this club has led to an invitation for U-15 Team Ontario tryouts in 2022, U-16 in 2023, and again U-17 this year in March. Although I did not make the provincial team in my first two attempts, it motivated me to work even harder and showed me that I can compete at a high level. 

In addition to club soccer, I also play soccer for my high school team, St. Ignatius Falcons. In grade 9, I was a starter for a team that won the regional competition and lost in the quarter-finals of the provincial competition. 

Both of these experiences have taught me that failures are just the first steps in succeeding: without failing we do not learn and without learning we do not change or grow.

I am a well-rounded soccer player that excels in the midfield position. My greatest strengths on the pitch are: high soccer IQ, quick decision making (on and off the ball), vision, passing accuracy/efficiency, and composure. I use every practice and every game to improve not only my soccer skills but to learn and grow in all aspects of my life. 

I am an honor roll student with a high academic standing. I haven’t fully narrowed down my academic aspirations, however, I have varying interests. I am exploring different fields of study such as finance and investment banking, kinesiology, chiropractic, and physical therapy. 

I look forward to pursuing my education at a university/college that will allow me to meet my academic and athletic goals.
