Personal Statement
As a soccer player I love to learn new aspects of the game. I pride myself in taking every game as it's my last. I feel like I have a lot more to improve upon so I can become the best player that I can be. I also feel I am an all around player, with good techniques and tactics.
Currently, I play in the highest level in Ontario - the Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL). In 2009, I was given a trial at the FootballCV academy in England. I was able to experience the life of a young, professional footballer in a professional atmosphere. I was given an invitational trial to Glasgow Rangers Youth Academy based on outstanding performance during participation in the Glasgow Rangers F.C. camp and tournament while with the Rose City Rangers FC. While there, I was given and invitational trial with Falkirk F.C. Youth Academy Team in Sterling, Scotland. While on the Rose City Rangers I was the team top goal scorer. In another Windsor and District Regional Club that I played with, we participated in the Western Ontario Soccer League (WOYSL) and we were the champions, and I was the top goal scorer for my team. We played in various tournaments in the USA and Canada. We also played in the Michigan premier league and were the champions of that league as well. In the 2009 season, my team participated in the Cocoa Beach Soccer Tournament in Cocoa Beach, Florida - December 27-30, 2008. I scored 6 goals and 8 assists over 5 games. In 2008, we were the Champions of Mid-American Soccer Classic (MASC) in Fairfeild, Ohio USA. I was named captain and awarded best player of the match twice - during the semi-finals and finals.
For my freshman, junior and sophomore years I received many honors. In my most recent season I was awarded with the league MVP for Tier 1 in high school athletics. I have been to OFSAA as freshman, junior and sophomore student with the varsity team and as a starter. OFSAA is the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations. In the sophomore season we won the OFSAA tournament and I was awarded with MVP for the tournament. Other awards I have won in the past include the rookie of the year and top scorer.
I believe school is more important than sports. By getting good grades it keeps my options open if I ever change my mind on what career I want to persue.
Academically my goal is to be within the medical field. More specifically, I would like to be a dentist. I am not set on any specific schools, but would like nothing more than to attend a school with a reputable dentistry program. Geographically I have no preference to where I attend school. Although family is extremely important to me, my family pushes me to do the best for myself and my education, where ever that may take me.
With very little money my family taught me the importance of education and persuing my dreams. As a son of immigrant parents, the message of perseverance was one that they taught by example. It resonates with me each and every day.
