Personal Statement
I am a scholar athlete with a 3.87 weighted GPA. I play for Oregon Premier FC Academy 1 (club team) and Wilsonville High School. I am an outside back for my club team, but can also play outside midfielder. I am comfortable playing on both sides of the field. For Wilsonville High School, I played the outside back position from freshman to junior seasons, earning 2nd Team All League as a junior. During my senior year, I moved to center back, in a three-back lineup, earning a 1st Team All League selection. I have been very lucky to play for some amazing coaches, who have helped me grow technically, tactically, and mentally. My strengths are my technical ability, pace with and without the ball, and anticipation of plays. I am also a very good one vs. one defender. I work hard both in school and on the soccer field and consistently challenge myself to become a better student and player. I also like to study soccer and what other players are doing in order to put my team in better situations.
Over the past year I have also made strength training a focus of my development. I consistently train with barbells, dumbbells and kettlebells at home and also enrolled in a weightlifting class at school. Strength training has not only made me stronger physically but mentally as well. I have also worked with a physical therapist on a stretching and mobility program.
My ultimate goal is to attend a strong academic college and be a key contributor on the soccer team.
Statement from Wilsonville High School Soccer Head Coach - Ian Reschke:
"He's such a quiet kid, and you'd never know he's such an animal on defense. I think that takes some teams by surprise. He reads the game so well, anticipates plays before they happen, and is a good one-on-one defender."
