My name is Will Murphy. I am 14 years old and my goal is to play professional soccer one day. No one works harder than I do. My dad is in the Army so our family moves every 2-3 years. Over the last three years, though, we've moved once every year. While this constant change is not easy, it has helped me to mature because I've learned to adapt to change and to playing for different types of players and coaches. I've also established myself as a strong leader for the teams I play for. I continually learn to adjust to every new coach and every new team. I earn their respect because no one works harder than me. Because I move so often, I have to prove myself again and again on every team I want to play for. Because no one knows me, it's my talent, leadership, and hard work that have earned me a starting position on each team. Every day when I'm not at practice or school, I'm outside, working hard to continually improve my touch and foot speed, often for one to two hours after I do my homework. I have earned starting positions because I work the hardest and earn the respect of my coaches and teammates. I am improving my speed, strength, and agility by attending sessions geared to each at a local gym for three days a week in addition to soccer practices. For my Highschool team this year (Carlisle High) I was the only freshman selected at tryouts for the Varsity team and then was selected to start ahead of returning upperclassmen. I scored six goals. I have already scored over 20 goals in five games for Keystone FC Premier indoor this season. My 4.0 GPA reflects in the classroom the same discipline I use on the soccer field. My parents won't let me play if my grades dip so I have to work as hard in the classroom as I do on the pitch.
