Personal Statement
Some people's life revolves around their friends or their community, but my world revolves around soccer, family, and school. I fell in love with the beautiful game from the first time I touched the ball as a young child in Peru. In Peru soccer is the most important and loved sport which makes it all the more special to me. I arrived to the United States on August 5, 2012, with many goals to achieve. Realizing this motivates me because I want to make the best of the opportunities that are presented to me.
Reflecting back on my journey, I realize that playing soccer has taught me more about myself than anything else. Soccer made me grow as a person in terms of discipline and confidence, and it taught me the value of hard work and dedication. Not only soccer but my parent's daily sacrifice to keep me here, this being my motivation to give back by being an outstanding student-athlete. As a captain of multiple years in my High School soccer team, it has showed me that in order to be successful in life, you must apply the characteristics of a captain -being a role model, respectful, and having dignity- off the field in everyday life.
Striving to do my best in Soccer has helped me get to where I am now and I will use what I have learned playing soccer and apply it to my next challenge, college. That being my reason to look for a college that would fit me, not only athletically but academically as well.
