Cooper Hayes '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Cooper Hayes. I am a Senior this fall at Gateway High School in Monroeville, PA, a few miles east of Pittsburgh.  I’m looking forward to playing at the next level while completing my degree. 

 I am a 6’4” defender that usually plays outside back for the Pittsburgh Hotspurs Club and Center back for Gateway High School, but can move to mid or up top when needed.  As far as my achievements in soccer, I’ve been awarded the “Players Player Award” on my Hotspurs team, I’ve been a varsity player every single year at my school and lettered all four years, helped propel my team to the Presidents Cup Regionals with the Hotspurs  (We won our bracket, but lost in the semifinals during PKs), and have been voted as one of my high school teams captains. My most recent achievements include making the 2021 WPIAL 3A “Finest 15” All Section Team, being awarded the 2021 Most Improved Player award, and making the playoffs for the second consecutive season. On top of that, I have a strong work ethic. I work on improving my game every chance I get, no matter what it is that needs to be improved, I will spend hours practicing until I feel as if I’ve gained progress and improved enough to widen the skill gap between me and my opponents just a little bit more each time I practice. Some of my other biggest strengths in my game include fast transition ability, passing vision, winning 50-50 balls, competitiveness,  defensive instinct and IQ, and outright speed and physicality. 

Academically speaking, I currently have a 3.2 GPA and have participated in multiple honors classes as well as an AP US History Class, and (currently) an AP Government class. I also worked at a Sky Zone trampoline park for a year as well outside of school, and participate in the symphonic band.
