I was drawn to athletics as a young child and began playing soccer when I was three years old. I remember how exciting it was to play my first game after weeks of training, and I loved working with my teammates to move the ball down the field and into the net. From those early days, I was hooked. As I grew older, I participated on club teams of increasing level and commitment. I started out at my local community club, but as my skills and commitment grew, I knew it was time to try-out and join a higher level club and team outside of my town. While it was not easy to make that transition, I learned that with hard work, time, and some patience, I could prove myself on a new team. I also found it to be true what they say —“actions speak louder than words” and I believe that is the case both on and off the pitch. I have not forgotten about my home-town club and still train with my former teammates on my own time and during the high school season, and I even travelled to Europe with them this past summer to play friendly matches in Germany, Austria, and Prague. That experience was the trip of a life time and helped develop my appreciation of different food, cultures, and soccer styles.
