Personal Statement
My name is Matthew Matsuzaki. I have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old. Soccer has ALWAYS been my passion and I would like to continue my journey at the college level while pursuing a biomedical/chemical engineering degree. I have played for San Antonio FC Pro Academy since 2017. I recently signed an academy contract with San Antonio FC 1st Team USL Championship League. I competed in the Lamar Hunt Cup 2022 1st and 2nd Round and international friendlies with the SAFC Pro Team. I have traveled to the Netherlands to compete with my training camp in Austin, Tx, and have competed nationwide in MLS Next and USL A Academy tournaments/finals. My work ethic, technical skill, speed, defensive attacking skills, control of the ball (both feet), and ability to turn defense into offense are just a few skills I excel at. I am driven, resilient, and self-motivated in all aspects including soccer and academics. While training full-time year-round, I have also managed to take 13 AP courses successfully ranking in the top 5% of my class. I look forward to taking my soccer and academic journey to the next level.
