Personal Statement

Hello, I'm Jabari Holtkamp. Even before I could walk, I was kicking a soccer ball.  As a child, I trained with my dad who's also my inspiration when it comes to playing this beautiful game.  Over the years, we've enjoyed countless hours of training together, as well as watching it on tv.  My dream has always been to become a professional soccer player when I grew up.  I've had the opportunity to play at the professional level at 9 years of age with Fortuna Sittard (Netherlands) and as a teenager with MVV (Netherlands).

I currently live overseas due to having both parents work for the military.  This has been a blessing in disguise because it has afforded me the chance to play in a country where soccer is the main sport. After graduation, I would like to move back home and attend a college in America.  Off the field, my friends would describe me as spontaneous and kind-hearted.  However, on the field they know me as confident, agile, and a fierce competitor. I've played a lot of street soccer (pleintjes) where if you don't stand your ground, you are left out. I am a natural-born leader and team player. I've been a starter all my life and strive to continue to improve my skills with every practice and game.  This has allowed me to play for two teams, simultaneously:  u19 and  u23.

I have made my debut on a first team a couple of times and am not afraid of a challenge. Although I might be a small player, I can handle myself with those bigger than me. I play a fast- paced game with a lot of passing. My strengths are my ability to dribble and dominate when playing 1v1.  I'm a versatile player and can play both offense and defense.  I rarely lose a defensive play. I am not a fan of playing the long ball, I love to have the ball on my feet; I love build up play.  I would love to find a team that is consistent with my style of play.  I am positive I can be an asset to any team I'm fortunate enough to play with.  After all, soccer is a great team sport which I enjoy tremendously.

I look forward to meeting collegiate-level coaches and their staffs, learning more about the schools, respectively, as well as the amazing opportunities in my future.

Club Information

  • Seasons of Club Experience
  • 8 seasons
  • 2023 EVV (Dutch second division )
  • Position: centre back (3,4), right back/right wingback (2), defensive midfielder (6). This year marks my second year at the club, I’m playing u19 but I play half of my games with the u23
  • 2022 EVV (Dutch third division )
  • Position: centre back (3-4), rightback/rightwingback (2), defensive midfielder (6). After playing a friendly match against EVV while still playing for Geleen Zuid I was asked to come play for them as they are the best club in my state, I was excited to move back to high level soccer and transferred mid season, I started right away and we were promoted to the Dutch second division. But here at EVV I learned a lot since we have coached shoe played in the Eredivisie for big clubs.
  • 2021 Geleend zuid (Dutch fifth division )
  • Position: attacking midfielder (10), defensive midfielder (6), centre back (3,4). After not playing at a club for one year (due to knee injury and training for myself) I started back at a team where some friends were playing so I could get back into playing games I played a more controlling role like Thiago distributing the ball and playing more defensive.
  • 2020 MVV Maastricht (Netherlands) (Dutch first division )
  • Position: forward (9), attacking midfielder (10). Third year at MVV, I was given the option to continue at the club and stay for atleast 2 more seasons but I choose to leave because of the poor facilities and trainers.
  • 2019 MVV Maastricht (Netherlands) (Dutch first division )
  • Position: forward (9), Attacking midfielder (10). Second year at MVV, unfortunately I had a knee injury that kept me from playing a full season, but after good treatment I got back to the old me.
  • 2018 MVV Maastricht (Netherlands) (Dutch first division )
  • Position: forward (9), Attacking midfielder (10). This was my first year at MVV and was getting used to the level and new play style. I performed well and played the majority of the season. But the best experience was going to tournaments with clubs with big names like: Feyenoord, Lyon, Anderlecht, Genk, Brighton, Aston villa, etc. Ive learned the most by playing better opponents.
  • 2017 VV Scharn (Dutch Second Division)
  • 2016 VV Scharn (Dutch Third division )
  • Position: forward (9), Attacking midfielder (10). This was my first year at Scharn after I played at a local club in my area, I was new but proved myself fast and had a pretty good season scoring 20+ goals and giving 10+ assist and becoming champions
