Matthew (Mateo) Villanueva '24 Recruiting Profile

I am Matthew Villanueva many people call me Mateo. My goal collegiate goal is to learn a new language and my aspiration is to become a role model to the young in the future. I’m a player who gets right back up if i get knocked down, and a player who can play the whole game. i’m different from many others because i can play any position, and i’m the type of player to lift my teammates up i’m not a cocky player who yells at my teammates at every mistake they do wrong. I’ve been on varsity since i was a sophomore at timbercreek high school, i  played with many great players such as Sebastian lutin who played for guatemala national team, or brayden beason who won 2023 DFW player of the year or even my mentor Antonio de la torre who played for puerto rico national team. i won 1st team all district last year for soccer and runner up for defense of player of the year, the only person who beat me was my teammate which was Aiden Nabors. i’ve also been doing successful with my club, playing semi pro for villarreal and i also got invited to go and play spain for a week with villarreal academy players. i’m a hard worker, and will do anything to win the ball, i play every position but mainly defender, i don’t care if someone is older then me, i will be loud and be a leader.
