Hi, my name is Noam Zilca. I am 17 years old and a Senior at Lebanon Trail High School, Frisco, TX. I have been playing soccer since I was six years old in Isreal. Since the first time I touched a soccer ball, I knew that I wanted to play soccer for as long as possible. Playing in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity and something that could change my whole life.
Three things that can describe me are Hard-working, Ambitious, and Responsible. I always strive to put in the time necessary in whatever I set my mind on. One of the things that I grew up on is no substitute or shortcut in life. I am always putting in the work, which is a value that I carry with me in soccer, school-work, extracurricular, and in my future at college.
I also volunteer every Sunday in Tzofim Tzabar, a youth movement for Israeli, Hebrew speaking children in North America. Weekly activities are held in Hebrew, planned, and executed by high school children leading kids 3-13. I personally Manage a team of 25 people, plan activities and events, and work with kids and adults.
People always ask me what's so attractive about soccer? Why do you spend so much practicing every day and canceling out on plans on the weekend because you have a game or practice. It’s basically 22 people running after a ball. So that’s what I tell them. I think soccer is a refined essence of this thing called life. There is a given time, a given place, and a given mission.90 minutes in a soccer field trying to win a game. But this is only the starting point. From here, everything is open. You have to demonstrate personal performance but also be part of a team. There are different roles on the field, but you have to show courage and take responsibility beyond what is defined. You have to excel throughout the game. You pay for your mistakes. And there is not always time to fix. And that is why I am so passionate about this sport called soccer and want to get a chance to reach my college-level goals.
