- 2023 Highlights
Personal Statement
My name is Francesc Baizan, and I was born on December 26, 2006. I am part of the graduating class of 2025 at St. John’s School (SJS) in Houston, TX. I've been playing soccer since the age of four, when my father first exposed me to it. I grew up as an FC Barcelona fan, as my father’s side of the family originates from Catalonia, Spain. After many years of recreational soccer, I joined my first competitive club at the age of 7, which was Houston Express. I played for the top team each year with Express through its rebranding as Rise. I was selected to play U12 Rise Development Academy (DA) which allowed me to train with and compete against the top players across the state of Texas. After I started middle school at SJS, I decided to switch to a USL II club, Houston FC, under Coach Bruce Talbot. I was immediately exposed to playing up with older and stronger players and training with high school and college-level players and professional players from all over the country and even the world. Along with strengthening my technical, tactical, and physical abilities, Coach Talbot taught me very valuable lessons about building character, including the fundamental values of faith, family, and academics. I currently play USL Academy (U19) and UPSL (U23) for Houston FC and am working towards debuting in USL II this summer for my club. As a sophomore at SJS, it is my second year as a starter for the Varsity team, where I have been playing as a CDM and Center Fullback. As I edge closer to college, I aspire to play for top-tier academic schools with great soccer programs. Although I don’t have a set idea of my preferred major, some interests include business and finance. I am eager to meet new coaches and get to know the many excellent schools our country offers which I can envision myself attending in the future.
