My goals for college are to study engineering, be recognized for working hard and not giving up, and of course playing collegiate soccer. Once I earn my degree and graduate, I want to work at Lockheed Martin like my Dad or at a large technology company like Apple or Google. I dream of being part of the team that designs the next technological revolution. Soccer has reinforced the idea that nearly all great things come from teamwork, no one person can carry the team to success.
To better contribute to my team I focus a great deal of time towards improving my defending skills. I minimize risks when approaching the ball, keeping myself between the attacker and the goal. I don't give the attacking player time or space to turn or pass. If I decide to make a play for the ball I always keep it clean and aim for the ball. Outside of normal club practice, I have additional individual soccer training along with physical strengthening and conditioning training.
I also play as a wingback, switching to offense either by dribbling up the field looking for an open player to cross to or making an early pass to open up the field. I have to maintain a high level of situational awareness to make quick decisions while being vocal with my team as the gameplay is very fluid.
