My goal is to make a meaningful contribution to the success of a soccer program at the collegiate level, not just on the field, but also to the benefit of my teammates, the university and to the community that surrounds and supports the team.
Throughout my soccer career to date, I have seen it as important to help the team perform to its potential, and to help my teammates develop and grow as players. This has come in the leadership roles I have played on my teams – as captain of both my club team and my high school team – as well as the nature of the role I have played on the team. Originally a center back, I have moved to the defensive midfield role over the past few years to fill a need on our team. That need was a player that could help the team win by protecting the backline; forcing the attack to go east-west versus north-south; using my size to defend strongly and to win critical defensive headers; and unselfishly starting the attack by getting the ball to my fellow midfielders, and to the wingers/forwards.
Having an older brother who played at the collegiate level, and now is pursuing a professional career, I have seen, first hand, what is needed to be successful at the collegiate level. That as players we represent the university each and every time we practice, play, attend class and interact with the surrounding community. That playing time is earned on the training field, in film sessions, in the weight room and through the preparation in the off-season. And, that hard work and resilience are important attributes to possess to be successful in collegiate soccer, and in life.
My focus has been on making the right choices to provide myself the best possible opportunity. I have been successful academically with a challenging course load in a difficult school program; have contributed to my community through service activities and have continued to develop my soccer skills and physical development through extra training sessions and strength training.
I look forward to bringing all of this together to help further the success of your program, my future teammates and your institution.
