Josh Burrup '25 Recruiting Profile

           Playing for a college soccer program has been a lifelong dream of mine. I have played soccer at the highest level for most of my life. Throughout my club soccer career I have won many different tournaments and proven myself in season play as well. The highlight of my club career would have to be playing in state cup 2022. Unfortunately we lost in the final to a great team. Throughout the tournament I scored 6 goals in 7 games. Even though I have participated and won other tournaments I have grown and learned from each of them in a new way. One of the most important things that I have learned was in State Cup 2021. Even though we didn't make it past the Semi-Finals I learned that there are things so much more important  than just talent. Hard-work, Character, Commitment, Leadership, Trust, Attitude, and Focus are just as important if not more important than talent. I work everyday to uphold these values in my daily life. These do not just apply to soccer but in everything I do In my life. 

           I have been fortunate enough to play for an ECNL team, an opportunity that most players don't get to experience. Throughout my time playing for my ECNL team I have been able to prove myself as a top player in the state of Utah. I am a very coachable player and I take criticism as motivation to grow into a better player. I am a very intelligent center midfielder and I am able to control and assess the game from the very start. As a center midfielder it is crucial to have a very good speed of play and be able to make decisions in a instant. I believe that I hold both of those quality’s. I love seeing my teammates succeed and push them to be their best. I am looking for a college that holds the same values that I do. Character, Leadership, Focus, Hard-Work, Attitude, Trust and Commitment. I am looking for a program that fits me academically as well as athletically.  I believe that I not only have the work-ethic to compete for college teams, but also the leadership skills to make a huge impact on your program!
