My name is Tybalt Thornberry and soccer has been my passion for most of my life. I spend a great deal of time on the game and I believe I have grown to be a very versatile player. In the past I played forward and attacking mid almost exclusively. Over time, I have moved to outside back, but I still rotate to other positions when needed. Because I have experienced different positions, I believe that gives me better understanding of what my team and teammates need for us to work together.
I am a senior year at Camas High School in Camas, WA. I average 3.4 GPA. Both of my parents are Deaf, so I have been using American Sign Language since I was a baby. My parents are both teachers, as were my grandparents, so education is very important to us. Because of my parents deafness and the use of ASL, I feel majoring in a field like Deaf Studies, Communications or Psychology would allow me to give back to the Deaf community. I hope to eventually obtain my AUD degree (Audiology).
During my high school playing career, I played JV as a freshman and moved up to starting Varsity as a sophomore. I play a high level of club soccer, with Westside Timbers Copa 01B and I also participate in ODP. I was chosen to attend the ODP Regional Training Camp in Idaho this July. This past year my Westside team was able to participate in National League in North Carolina, we won Oregon State Cup and participated in Regionals in Hawaii. I try to make myself and the people around me the best they can be in order to be successful; I think that’s one of my greater character traits.
