I want to continue playing soccer after high school because I’m not ready to stop advancing in competition.
I’ve thrived for years playing above my age group. I started varsity as a high school freshman. As a middle schooler I was playing in high school tournaments. College play is the next goal.
Soccer, to me, is like a game of chess. As a goalie, soccer is a mind game as well as a physical one. I can move the defense in a way to counter the ever-changing offense of the opposing team.
I don’t get down on myself, I play every game with the same attitude all the way through. We could be down 0-5 and I step up and continue to play as if it was still 0-0. I try to be uplifting and am always positive towards my teammates and even the opposition. I am mentally prepared and always alert.
My family lives on a small farm, which helps keep me physically fit year-round. When not on the field, I am chopping wood with an axe, loading/unloading hay, doing everyday farm work. I run and continuously set unique goals for myself.
The last two years I have played for our varsity high school football team as well. Though I never played football before, I came out and earned the starting position for kicker. I strive to be the best that I can be. My sophomore year, the football team went to our local army base and competed on the military obstacle course. I finished first out of the whole football team and was almost a minute faster than the teammate who came in second.
I also hold the school record for 100 burpees: I completed 100 burpees in 4:27! The previous record was held by a guy who became a Navy Seal.
In school I am self-motivated and reliably maintain a strong academic record in science, math, and English. I will always be eligible to play. I had a rough freshman year during COVID with online school, but since we have been back in person, I strive for A’s in my transcripts, you see mainly A’s with a few B’s. I also enjoy hands-on classes, such as auto mechanics and welding.
Finally, I don’t need a coach to sugar coat what they want to say. I want coaches to be blunt and to the point, I can take what they say and will strive to achieve it.
