Personal Statement
My name is Omar Penaloza and I am Senior student athlete at Pasco High School. I have played varsity soccer for the past 3 years, I am a Center Forward that can adjust to play Left Wing, Right Wing, and Central Attacking Mid if needed. My freshman year I was a starting Center Forward with 10 goals and 5 assists. I was named 2019 Second Team All-Conference Boys Soccer Team and received a Varsity Letter Award. Sophomore year we had conditioning practice and try outs. Days before having our first league game our school district announced all spring sports were to be canceled due to Coronavirus. Junior year we had a half season only having 10 games, unfortunately during pre season I ruptured my tendinitis. Despite being injured I would still show up to practice, I would help the coaches inflate soccer balls, help disinfect the locker room, help with the flim of our games. At the end of the season, I got to play 5 minutes on which I managed to score a goal. Academically, I want to pursue a career in business at a 4-year university. I have mainited a 3.2 weighted gpa my senior year and plan on bringing it up. School has never been easy, there is always more I want out of myself and often I'm not satisfied. What makes me a good candidate for any team is my school/sports balance. I never let anything distract my education. Since 4th grade I have received the Hispanic Academic Achievers Program (HAAP) Award which is an award for hispanic students with good grades. Also, I am a coachable athlete, regardless of the team I play on. I can always accept criticism from anyone on the team and work on it during personal training.
