Personal Statement

My pinnacle moment of my soccer career didn’t happen due to a glorious victory or a highlight game. Instead it came from the most unlikely place, sitting on the bench with my arm in a sling nursing an unexpected soccer injury, a broken collarbone. I sat in pain, feeling frustrated with myself, I watched my club soccer team win the State Championship for the first time in all our years playing together. It was a monumental moment for our team and for myself personally. As I sat and watched my team play the biggest game of the season without me, it seemed like the worst thing that could have possibly happened to me. Looking back I wouldn’t change what happened to me for the world. That moment didn’t only create a new athlete it created a new person with even more drive and determination. That moment gave me a new mindset. It taught me to never take anything for granted again. I learned to put my heart and soul into every day and into everything I do. This drove me to be a better leader on and off the field. It pushed me to be a disciplined student athlete who would fight through the highest and lowest points in life.

After that moment I went on to make my highschool Varsity team Freshman year having one of the best seasons of soccer I’d ever had. My club team went on to play at Regionals and grew stronger as a team. With a renewed perspective and new confidence moving forward I believe my experiences shaped me to handle the swift and unexpected changes COVID lockdowns brought to my life. In an instant soccer dreams were stopped dead in their tracks for everyone. This didn’t stop me from working hard. I created a 6 day a week fitness program for myself. Strength training, endurance, and soccer training. I started working for Bush Car Wash and did the best I could with the time I had. As I maintain my job, fitness, and education goals I feel this will help me excel at your college. You will never find anyone as disciplined or as committed as me. This is why I believe I will be a good fit for your college.
