Hello my name is Hadden Muench. I am a class of 2025 goalkeeper from Seattle, Washington. I am currently playing for Seattle United ECRL. I also play for my high school, Ballard high school.
Academics are a top priority for me and because of that I have learned to balance elite level soccer and the time commitments that it demands along with a highly rigorous course schedule to maintain a high GPA. Throughout my first two years in high school I have maintained a 4.1 weighted GPA while playing ECNL/ECRL soccer while also taking multiple honors and AP courses. I excel in various subjects such as history/social studies and physics with interests in studying quantum mechanics, nuclear physics, or Astro physics later on in college. I am also considering minoring in business as well.
As a goalkeeper my strengths are reactionary and technical saves as well as communication and leadership on and off the field. I also can conduct distribution out of the back with long directed throws and or long kicks. Throughout my 8 years playing with my club soccer team I have had the privilege of weekly focused goalkeeper training sessions. Rich Reece (University of Washington men’s soccer GK coach) and Kary Whitney (women’s GK coach for UW) emphasize detailed handling and footwork fundamentals that are necessary to becoming a complete goalkeeper.
Soccer has always been the highlight of my day whether that be a heated game in a tournament final or taking shots against friends on a Friday night. Also soccer has provided me with great learning opportunities to develop long standing characteristics such as mental discipline, resiliency, and staying present and positive in a tough situations both in the game and throughout life.
Through college athletics, I desire to play at a high level, compete every day, make a significant difference on and off the field, and earn a college degree. I also believe that I am not finished playing soccer just at a club or highschool level. For me there is more to do, so much to experience, and I can get even better and I feel the same way about academics. There is also more to do with school in terms of finding my passion, making school the best part of my day as well as finding something to peak my interest for the rest of life, even beyond college. Playing college soccer is perfect to continue both my passion for academics and the beautiful game.
