Matthew Le Roy Hi...I have been playing club soccer since eight years old and have always loved the sport. I was a multiple sports athlete, but soon enough, I realized soccer was my passion. I have been playing soccer since I was five years old. Since I first stepped on the field, I have aspired to play at the collegiate level. I know that playing in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity that could change my whole life.
As a student-athlete, academics are extremely important to me and I hope to focus on getting a degree in a STEM topic. Through high school, I have kept a very high cumulative GPA of 3.91 and a 4.01 weighted. Some of my classes this year included Advanced Chemistry, Honors Biology, Honors Calculus I, and Honors Spanish 4.
For soccer, I am a big center back at 6'2" and win many aerial challenges. I work to play simple and keep possession, but I can hit a very good long ball to the forwards or outside midfielders. During games, I focus on being a strong and positive leader and directing the outside backs and midfielders to make my job easier. I make my coaches job easier by being very coachable. I am one of the hardest workers on my team and hope to bring that to a college team in the future. One of the highlights of my high school career was winning the Washington 1A State Championship as a freshman. We have had a strong team since, and hopefully, we can continue to do great things during my junior and senior year.
I have excellent ball handling skills and strong legs. I am a team leader and try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working players and one of the hardest working recruits you’ll find.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the field. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a great role model to all my peers and make my parents proud.
