NCSA personal statement
Respect, Passion, Discipline. These are three words that I hold close during play and practice. My name is Wesley Paul, I am from northwestern Wisconsin and I am a winger/attacking mid. I have had a passion for soccer my entire life, and have been very excited to play at the ECNL level. I am a creative player on the field, a generous passer, and I work to see all runs players might make on the field. As a winger, I look to drag defenders out of position to open up space for my teammates to exploit and make runs through. I am left foot dominant but also have a very strong right foot.
On days there isn’t formal training, you will usually find me kicking a ball somewhere. The discipline to train is something I carried over from a recent training abroad.
I had the privilege in January of 2022, to attend TOVO Academy in Sitges, Spain. This helped improve how I see and understand the game immensely and after attending, I would consider myself a very “thought centered” player. It was at this camp and through the teachings of Todd Beane, that I increased my respect for both the players as well as the game itself. He taught the value of passion through playing as well as through how you interact with your teammates and opponents.
In 2018 I started a business as a means to fund my time at TOVO. Being a business owner helps in many aspects like discipline and respect, as I must talk to other business owners to promote my brand and ideas. You can learn more about my business at www.eauclairebikeads.com
Outside of soccer, I enjoy spending time outdoors. I also love working with my hands, tinkering, and solving complex problems. I have an interest in engineering (mechanical tech) as a career and am looking for schools with similar degree programs.
