Personal Statement

Between my music, my academics and my sport I have become someone who is talented in many areas and a well-rounded individual. I do my best not to involve myself in anything I can or will not give 100% to because I believe it can then lower the quality of my brand. My brand is the kind you want in a student athlete. I am heavily involved in my school, and I take great enjoyment in my abilities as a musician, athlete and intellectual, while doing my best to stay humble and constantly improve.

I currently am in the top 10% of my class with a cumulative gpa of 3.67, I am a student of the IB program taking IB History, English, Biology, Spanish, and Math. IB classes are accelerated in a similar manner to that of AP classes, except for that i am responsible for knowledge learned my junior AND senior year for my external exams in May of my senior year; These exams are graded by examiners all around the world. I have recently been inducted to National Honor Society and i have received High Honors in academics since my freshman year at Green Bay West. I have received my letter in academics, as well as the Lamp of Knowledge award that is given to juniors who have had 5 consecutive semesters of High Honors.

I have participated in DECA since my freshman year at Green Bay West, and have competed at the regional and state level since my freshman year. I did not receive any medals my first year, but in my sophomore year i received a medal at both regionals and state. This year (my junior year) i placed 3rd in my event series at regionals, which came with two medals and a plaque, and i also received a medal at state. DECA has very much shaped my future and helped me to realize my career path. I plan on studying International Business in college, and will likely study overseas in either Spain or Mexico because of my ability in speaking Spanish.

Music has also been a huge part of my high school career. I have been a member of the school band since my freshman year, and have become involved in almost all of it's facets. I have been playing percussion (drums) in Jazz, Pep, Pit and Marching band since my freshman year, as well as in my favorite of all of the music activities at Green Bay West: Drum-line. I have been a Snare on the line since my freshman year, and i have loved it from the moment i started. Over my time so far we have been undefeated in battles against all of the other Green Bay schools. We have played numerous times in our community, like Green Bay Gambler games (minor league hockey), The Color Run, Terror on the Fox (local haunted house), and even for a speech by former president Bill Clinton. This year i have become captain of line, and it is even more of a direct responsibility than that of being captain of a sports team because we do not have a coach. Our band director will help, but we pride ourselves on being student run.

Though i was the JV starter my freshman year, i did manage to get some varsity minutes, namely in our regional playoff game where i had 11 saves but only played 30 minutes; I only let one goal and it was a penalty kick. My save numbers have always been high. Last year i recorded 224 saves on the season, which was 5th in the state and this year i recorded 287, which was 1st in the state and helped me to gain my All Conference- Honorable Mention spot in the FRCC; arguably the most competitive conference in the state. In my two years as a varsity starter i have already saved 511 shots, more than many goalkeepers will save their entire career, and i still have another season. I have been the MVP of the team every year, i have been a captain every year, and i have also been given the Coaches Award for leadership, dedication, and commitment.

I look to be a leader on and off the field, and i strive to be as valuable off the field as i am on it. Whether it be DECA, Soccer, Music, Social Studies academic team, School, Life-guarding (my job), or my social life, i will always give 110%. If you are looking for a goalkeeper who is much more than just a goalkeeper, i am your guy.
