I grew up exposed to the game of soccer. With both of my parents, I was almost forced to have a passion for the game. But the force grew into a desire, and all I wanted to do was surround myself with the game. Growing up in a soccer house, we always had the EPL on the television every Sunday morning, completely invested into what was occurring during the game. At the earliest age I could, I became a referee. I could not think of a better way to make money than to continue to watch the game I love. Refereeing taught me the importance of communication, and I have continued to be the loudest voice on the field, whether on my club team, high school team, or even basketball. Refereeing also taught me confidence, and the ability to move on past my mistakes. Both of these characteristics are extremely important on the soccer field, as one mistake can define the rest of my game by dismantling my confidence, or it can be just a singular mistake, like when I have the ability to recognize it, learn from it, and move past it.
