When you are 14, there aren’t many things you can say you have done for over 10 years. I cannot remember a time when soccer wasn’t part of my life. From the time I could walk, I would kick the ball around with my older brother in the backyard, and I started organized soccer when I was 4 and have not stopped playing since. Soccer is my passion. I play as often as I can, wherever I can. I even work on footwork when I am studying. I am always looking to improve my skills.
I spent 10 years in my local soccer league learning as much as possible about the game. I took on leadership roles on my teams and was happy to be someone that both my coaches and teammates felt like they could count on to perform in games. I was even asked on several occasions to step in and play with older teams. While I enjoyed playing locally, as I got older I wanted to expand beyond the summer/fall season offered in my small area, so I sought out club teams in a larger area with a spring soccer season. I wanted to try my skills in a more competitive organization, and I was happy to find that I was still able to be a leader on the field. I am a midfielder and I have a strong belief in all that position entails. I believe that offense and defense are equally important, and I never tire while running the field. I can read the field and while I love to score, I know that assists are just as valuable. I am a team player, and I play with the mentality that we can find more success working together rather than relying on only 1-2 people to do everything.
This past fall I was a freshman at Lakeland Union High School. I was brought up to play varsity the very first game. By the second game I was playing most of the game and by the third game, I was a starter. I started in midfield positions (both outside and defensive), but injuries on the team caused the coach to have to shift positions. I played the right back position and I again was someone that my team could rely on, as I started and played the full game every game. My team won Regionals and we were Sectional Finalists. I earned All-Conference Honorable Mention and was voted Rookie of the Year. This has motivated me to pursue soccer at a collegiate level.
I will continue playing high school and club soccer as well as attend camps to continue to hone my skills on the field. College soccer is my goal and I am ready to commit and do whatever it takes to play at that level.
