When I was younger, I was not allowed to play soccer on a team. Music was more important to my family. I played as much as I could when I had the chance. In 8th grade I moved to Phillips where, finally, I had a true chance to play soccer as a team sport. At the time, it was mostly just a sport that I enjoyed, but when I recieved compliments from the varsity coach I saw a bigger picture. I realized that I had taken parents and coaches by storm when they found out that I had never played before. Every year since, I have spent hours apon hours practicing on our local field. I've always wanted to stand out and to shine amongst many. Just the thought of playing college soccer makes my hands shake with ecxitement. I began having bigger goals. Suddenly, it wasn't just about playing college soccer; it was about proving people wrong. I wanted to show that, though I may not be the biggest, most skilled player, I have heart. I know what I can do when I am challenged with something. So, overall my dreams, goals and aspirations are not to play a college sport, but rather compete to the very top of my ability and show all those who may ever have doubted me that it only takes hard work and a true love for the game to become what no one has ever expected of you. I want to be a leader and a role model. I also believe that playing college soccer is the perfect way to do that. I will need to prove myself, being a nobody from a nowhere town can be a major downfall but in my case, it is a great asset. Because, to be recognized, I have worked harder than most people with connections or athletes from bigger cities.
As far as academics go, I plan on attending college, perhaps majoring in sports management and German. Because of my drive to succeed, I know I will be successful throughout my college years. My time management skills will ensure my success in excellent grades, along with all of the extra-curricular activities that I may participate in.
