The biggest impact on my swimming journey has been my family. I would not be where I am today in the sport of swimming without my incredibly supportive parents, two older sisters and younger brother. My younger brother Matthew, who is on the autism spectrum, inspires me to do my best and give it my all in the pool, academically, and in my faith. Swimming has taught me valuable lessons in goal setting, it helps me refocus my mind before and after school, and I genuinely can’t imagine my life without it.
I appreciate the leadership opportunities swimming has provided me. I represented Southeastern Swimming on three zone teams and was elected team captain on the most recent team in 2017. This incredible team experience motivated me to try to improve the team spirit of my local club by leading team cheers and encouraging my teammates to be the best person they can be in and out of the water. In 2016, I was elected Athlete Representative in my LSC and attended two USA Swimming National Conventions. I appreciate the opportunity to network and train with athletes from all over the country. I look forward to pursuing new leadership opportunities in college swimming.
