Personal Statement

Daniel Schwabauer TRANSFER

******I have just entered the transfer portal today May 4 2023 after a year at a D1 University. It didn't fit my needs so rather than stay I'm ready to be proactive and move forward in the pursuit of fulfilling my potential and achieving my goals.  Even though I'm now 17 and should really be going into my senior year at high school I am going into my sophomore year at college! I've gained so much experience and learned a huge amount on many levels this year. I'm looking for a very competitive team who's like family and the Coach is hands on and in touch with the swimmers, and who looks out to develop each person on the team regardless of ability. I'm looking for a team that takes into consideration the wellbeing of each athlete by having individual and team goal meetings, wellness checks and support through all the highs and lows in and out of the pool. I believe at my age and with the right support and mentor the sky is the limit. I am looking for that fit. Please reach out if you feel this is something you can help me with. Many thanks Daniel**********

My name is Daniel Schwabauer, age 16 (10/14/2005), class of 2022. I am 2 school academic years ahead - a senior at Calvary Day School Savannah Georgia- so there’s major room for improvement on my current swim times! I am searching for a college/university team and a program that I can dedicate myself to in order to fulfill my future potential in and out of the pool.  I am 6’3 feet tall, Size 14  shoes, weigh 193+lbs, and moved from the UK to South Carolina about 5 years ago.  I am constantly chipping away at improving my ever changing times,  50 free (21.66), 200 IM (1:57.87) and the 100 free (47.39) .

Two experiences stand out for me during these difficult pandemic years. 1- I was delighted to become South Carolina high school State Champion in the 50 freestyle in October 2020 at age 14, and silver in the 100 freestyle after only 2 qualifying outdoor meets in our 2 month season (only allowed 2 straight final events ). 2 -In addition I was honored and privileged to be this year’s Georgia  Zones senior captain making lifelong friends and memories. To help counteract the lack of training and competitions during the global pandemic I’ve now started to add in additional events to make the most of competitions; 1650 free (16:23), 1000 free (9:51), 500 free, (4:42). I’ve discovered I enjoy being very versatile! Please follow me and my progress on NCSA.

Some additional background information:- My Mother is British and Father an American from Yonkers New York .They have always encouraged me to participate in a variety of sports. I was born and bred in a small Welsh speaking seaside town in Wales U.K. surrounded by the beautiful mountain ranges of Snowdonia until I was about 12 years old  (I can speak the Welsh language fluently!)  Before I swam I played/competed on many multi sport club teams, track and field, soccer, cricket and rugby which helped me transition to playing American football here in the US. I enjoy all aspects of being on a competitive year-round swim team best of all. As a result I have recently decided to dedicate myself exclusively to swimming and I am very proud to be a “GCAT” on the Georgia Coastal Aquatic Team in Savannah Georgia. I have shown dedication by traveling 4 hours a day for training over the Savannah Bridge before school at 4:30 AM and after school returning home by 8 PM! For my senior year I have moved schools to Calvary in Savannah as pool availability and times do not link up with Bluffton schools.  Also it eliminates me driving myself 2 of the 4 trips between Georgia and South Carolina per day!! I feel that this experience will prepare me for the transition into university/college both athletically, academically, and socially.  I’m dedicated and willing to fully commit myself to learning how to be the best I can be. I am ready to build towards gaining a sports scholarship at a university/college that could offer me the best program and the best fit for my learning style and swimming potential.270 PineCrest Circle
