I am currently a Sophomore at Thomas University in Thomasville Georgia. I began my competitive swim career with a local swim club. I was originally introduced to competitive swim in 5th grade by one of my friends and I have been swimming ever since.
Swim has helped me learn to push myself further than I ever thought. It has taught me about dedication, commitment, goal setting, and being able to be a part of a team. Swim has also taught me about success and failure. The success came from working hard and failure came from not reaching the goal I had worked hard for at each practice and swim meet. These same types of successes and failures helped me not only in swim, but in academics and everyday life.
Some obstacles I had to overcome with swim are time management and balance of sports with my personal life. Swim is a demanding sport and requires a lot of time in and outside of the pool. I’ve worked hard to find the balance of school, swim, family, and friends.
My goal setting and persistence have been rewarded in the following ways:
Coach’s Award for two consecutive years
Most Improved Award for dropping 15 seconds in 200 IM
Varsity swim team member since freshman year
GHSA state cuts freshman and sophomore years
Region 200 IM winner 2020
Region 100 fly second place 2020
First Team All Region freshman and sophomore years
School swim team region winners freshman and sophomore years
I have several goals for the future. My current goal, first and foremost, is to obtain my college degree.
For my future in competitive swimming, I am looking for a college to help me be a stronger, better swimmer where I can be part of a bigger picture on a team. I believe the right college will help me achieve ALL my future goals and I am excited to see where life takes me.
