Personal Statement
My parents tell me they couldn’t get me out of a pool from the age of six months. I believe it! I’ve played many sports over the years, but only swimming has been my passion and has been since I was 10, when I started swimming competitively. I’ve always appreciated the challenge that every practice or meet brings and believe that you can always strive to be even better as long as you are always giving it 100%.
My goals are to swim on a Division 1 team and be a champion at conference championships, at the NCAA Championships and to go to the Olympic Trials. I believe that I am a good candidate for a Division 1 team because I am hardworking in and out of the water, which helps my team and me succeed. I am very receptive to coaching input. I am a leader and I am always cheering my teammates on and helping to create a fun team atmosphere.
I am very focused on working hard both academically and athletically. This is why I chose Benet Academy for high school, a rigorous college-preparatory school. I also swim for the Hinsdale Swim Club, a top ranked club in the state of Illinois and in the nation. I like both my school and swim club because they push me to be my best. I look forward to swimming for a college that can provide the same academic and athletic challenges.
My grades after my first two years at Benet were not acceptable to me. As I have become more acclimated to the rigors of Benet Academy, my grades have steadily improved. My freshman and sophomore grades were approximately 77% each year. However, my grades jumped to 85% in the first semester of my junior year and I currently have a 92% so far in the second semester.
