2016 HighlightsMy name is Kancharala Sai Rahul and I am currently a Freshman at ASU studying Computer Science and swimming for the Pitchfork Aquatics club. I am passionate about swimming, I am a very competitive person and have what it takes to be a good athlete. I'm tall (6'), built (160lb.), and endurable. All these qualities make swimming an ideal sport for me. Ever since I started to swim 3 years ago, I've been doing my best at every practice. I have learned that it is rather dedication than pure talent that defines a winner. I am very interested in swimming at the college level as I have not been able to compete here at ASU. However, getting a good education is my top priority. I want to work in engineering field because I want to use new technologies to improve life in society. I am also interested in Business Management studies as a second choice of major. When choosing a university, I also consider other factors like geographic location and division level. I don't consider myself a DI athlete, but if qualified, I will definitely improve and be among fastest swimmers on the team. Moving all the way from India was a big step for me as I am very far away from my friends and family. I don't want this sacrifice to be for nothing. This is one more factor that motivates me to achieve my goals in swimming. My desire to be a student-athlete in college is unbearably strong. At the same time, I have realistic goals for my swimming career. My short term goal is to become the fastest short distance freestyler in India by the end of 2018. My long term goal is to compete at the highest level I qualify for, and to make an impact on the team because I want people to remember me after I graduate from college.
