What my coach says about me in the CANA report sums it all up nicely
Chad Berning – I am very impressed with his performance – he is a very focused and determined young man. He always works hard and was well prepared for this gala. He got 7 PB out of 12 individual races – he also swam in the relays. Chad obtained 5 medals in total – 1 Gold 200 Fly, 2 Silver 50 Fly and 100Fly, 2 Bronze 50 Back and 200 Back. A fine performance indeed.
Chad is extremely competitive but also extremely hard on himself and wants to achieve nothing but his best at all times and gets frustrated with himself if he makes a mistake or finds he still has some energy at the end of a race and wished he pushed harder. This is why he will do well. This young man thinks – so he will go far in his swimming. I spoke to Chad about relaxing a bit more and to try enjoying what he is doing – have some fun too and when he did he did even better. I believe the 200 fly gold was because he went out there with a different attitude. He is very tough on himself, he loves and enjoys what he does. He is incredibly hard working and dedicated. I believe is a very talented young man.
Chad is a team player as well – I found him always respectful, helpful and cooperative. He was very good in helping Brandon get over his DQ. He leads by example and it is always great to have a swimmer like this on a team. He is extremely disciplined, determined and focused. A proud member of the Botswana Team. Chad was a pleasure to travel on tour with. Chad was a true ambassador for Botswana.
