Swimming has been an important part of my life since I can remember. The sport has taught me about the importance of failing and succeeding in relation to long term success, and has helped shape me into the student-athlete I am today. Swimming has not only impacted my physical capabilities, but has helped me further develop the mental toughness necessary for achieving athletic and academic goals.
I have been swimming with the same group for the past five years and in doing so, have developed strong relationships with my teammates and coaches. I have learned that good communication is a key factor to attaining my personal goals and supporting my fellow teammates. I see myself as a lifelong learner, and am eager for the opportunity to continue my journey as a competitive collegiate student-athlete.
Building strong communication skills and understanding the "why" of how small details of technique affect overall success and progression has influenced my interest in studying social sciences in college. Swimming in college will allow me to continue to balance my creative thinking skills in the classroom with my desire to compete and succeed in the water.
