I first got into the pool when I was 3 years old and joined the Hockomock Area YMCA team when I was 8. That first year I qualified for the New England Championship Meet for my backstroke. Since 2013 I have been working to improve my technique by attending a four day Peak Performance Swim Camp where I was able to improve my breaststroke which is my weakest stroke. In August of 2014 I attended the John O'Neill camp and picked up some tips on my freestyle. In December of 2014 I attended a Peak Performance Swim Camp in Florida and gained some techniques for my butterfly and in October of 2015 I again attended a Peak Performance Camp and worked on my dives as well as my turns.
I was diagnosed as dyslexic in 2005 and ADD in 2015 and therefore I do struggle academically, but I will not allow this to impact my chance of attending college to study motorsport or automotive technology. In the summer of 2014 I attended a College Credit Java Program Course; in the summer of 2015 I attended a Cyber Forensic and Security Camp at Penn State.
Although my dyslexia and ADD do hamper me with my coursework, I love to swim as the routine of practice helps me to clear my mind and the exercise is good to help me prepare for the homework that I have. I have been on medication since the fall of 2015 and this seems to be helping me to stay focused in the classroom.
I am hoping to swim throughout my college career as I love the team aspect as well as the chance to continue to improve myself.
