Personal Statement
I have only been swimming competitively for five years now (am a Senior now 08/2020)) and I love it! I love to swim, I love to race and I love to swim as fast as I can, only knowing that I can go faster.
I am a captain on my high school team and try to lead by example. I am very teachable and admit I still have a lot to learn. I try to show my teammates that if you work hard, in and out of the pool, you can do great things. I also try to show that in the hallways of my high school and in the classroom.
I had a very good high school swim season. I won the MHSAA Div. 3 State Championship in the 500 and placed 3rd in the 200 freestyle. I was voted Lansing State Journal Swimmer of the Year and received that award on June 4, 2019. I feel very fortunate to have been voted that and was a goal of mine ever since last year.
COVID-19 took my junior year state meet from me (just like most of us). I was slated to win the 500 free and 200 free and possibly achieve a junior national cut time in both. Next Year!
I am looking for a competitive team that I can immediately contribute to and assist in winning meets and league championships. I feel I have the skill and desire to be an asset on a good team and look forward to swimming at the next level and learning even more.
My long term goal out of the pool is to be in the top 5% of my graduating class and earn a degree in Engineering or Architecture.
