
2018 HighlightsAs a freshman, I was lucky enough to have a group of seniors on my team who really knew how to unite and motivate everyone on the team. By watching them, it really sank in how far you can get with the right mindset and work ethic. Those four guys taught me what it really meant to be a leader. And, when I was captain the next year, I did my very best to be just like them. Sophomore year is when I truly realized that I might be able to do something special, and when I placed fifth in the 500 freestyle at sectionals, I knew that with a lot of hard work, I would be able to swim at the college level.
Although my varsity coach is young and mostly inexperienced, those of us on the team who are truly dedicated fit in extra workouts whenever and wherever we can. However, I do feel that she motivates me as well as the rest of my team just as a coach should and drives us to become the best that we can be. Being a member of a varsity level team has taught me the meaning of comradery and commitment, as well as the benefits of working hard and never giving up on yourself. I believe that I have what it takes to compete on a college level team. More importantly, I have the dedication, the work ethic, the positive attitude and the character to be a valuable addition to any college team.
