The reason swimming is so important to is my sophomore was my rookie year on the team I swam the entire season, after season was over my father passed from cancer on the 18th of April. Then next season comes Junior year I got injured had to sit out the rest of the season. During a prayer I promised to him and myself I would make every moment Senior year count. Leave nothing out there leave it all in the pool that’s why I was so emotionally driven and passionate. ( Also teammates and the love of the game) That’s why at sectionals when I went under 28 seconds when got out of the pool I started screaming then after my last event in the 200 yard freestyle relay I cried.
Being a team captain helped make me who I am today I had moments where I doubted my ability to be a leader but my coach and my teammates were there to show me that it is ok to show emotion at your weakest point. Don’t feel like you’re alone because you never are truly alone because there is someone else out there who is going through the exact same things you are. We all have our struggles but it is us being able to make it through those struggles to make us a stronger and mature and experienced human being.
I hope to further my athletic career and my educational career as much as possible.
