The game changed when I reached my freshman year, I realized that my swimming career would be over very soon if I did not start working harder to become fast enough to continue after high school. Swimming competitively has played a major role in my life for many years and it's importance to me significantly rises as every individual season with each team comes to an end. With this in mind, I knew that I had to start giving my full effort and being totally committed if I did not want it all to end so abruptly. It would be typical for me to work on my start, turn, or stroke technique in my spare time. I regularly alter my diet to benefit the outcome of every race I compete in, rationing anything with no nutritional value. Along with avoiding unbeneficial sustenance, I work to keep to a healthy sleep schedule and steer clear from drugs and anything else that crosses my path that may hinder my performance.
I have noticed that I display a unique personality, and in that I take pride. The most fitting adjective I would use to describe myself would be conscientious. I am not at all the type of person to be persuaded into doing anything that is wrong and I am certainly not unwilling to defend myself and my decisions. I will never be the cause of or get involved in a conflict of any kind because it is an ambition of mine to build positive relationships with everyone I meet. I have learned that the establishment of peace amongst people leads to a happier, healthier, and less stressful life. Another thing I have noticed about my character that differs from most others is that I am more devoted to being the best that I can be. Practices are seldom given less effort than my best because I am always thinking about my future and the satisfaction of knowing that I could not have done it any better is so astounding that it motivates me to give full effort every practice. This same concept applies to academics. The hours that I invest in studying the information I have been taught and the time I take while truly comprehending it pays off when I receive notable test grades. Hard work really does pay off, and this concept is one that is very influential to my life decisions.
