As a twin, my parents noticed that I worked harder to do things that babies learn to do from the beginning. I worked to turn over, crawl, and even walk, while my sister just watched. And shortly after I accomplished whatever skill I had to accomplish, my sister would as well. But I had to be first, even then. I still like being first.
My first experience with swimming came at the age of four, but I have been swimming competitively since I was eight, in summer league, and then in club, and as a member of my varsity high school team. Swimming has taught me so much about myself. I learned that my accomplishments are only limited by me. My goals and aspirations for college are high. I want to go to a school where I can get a good education, that prepares me for a good job after graduation. As a dyslexic student, I have always had to work harder, and that work ethic has transferred to the pool. I believe in working hard to achieve goals, and there is much more to achieve. Honesty, integrity, focus, desire, and the ability to have fun while pushing myself, are qualities I possess, as well as qualities I am looking for in teammates. My coaches and teammates push me to do more than I think I can. I need coaches and a collegiate team that does the same. I don't know that I want college to be the last place I swim, but I definitely will use it to prepare me for whatever comes afterwards.
