I am a well-rounded, ambitious, hard-working, team player. I am a member of the 2 time 5A Texas State Champion Wakeland High School Swim Team in 2022 and 2021 and 2nd place team in 2020. My freshman year I placed 9th in state in the 200 IM. Last year, I placed 2nd at regionals in the 200 IM but did not qualify for state because of the COVID rules for that year. This year, I was a 200 IM qualifier at state again, and a member of the 200 free relay that took 3rd place and the 400 free relay that took 2nd place at state setting a new school record replacing one set in 2015. I was also a member of the 200 IM relay at regionals that set a regional, pool and school record. I also swim for Metroplex Aquatics under Brent Mitchell.
I started swimming right before I turned 11. In just one year, I had my first state cut. At 12, I ended the long course season as 13th in the nation in 200 breast and obtained my first sectionals cut. I continued to improve but started to plateau as COVID hit. I credit my success in the pool with hard work so when pools closed and practices became inconsistent, my progress took a hit. I have been working hard to get back on track. While I'm not where I want to be, I do expect to get there. One of my coaches told me several years ago that as long as you have a lane you have a chance, so I am not giving up on achieving the goals that I have set. I've never failed at something I've put my mind to and I don't expect that to change now.
Though I have historically focused primarily on the 200 Breast, I have shifted to the 200 IM and 400 IM given my improvement in both over the last several years.
My PRs for my primary races: 400 IM (4:05.67), 200 IM (1:56.19), 200 Breast (2:09.16), 200 Fly (1:55.72).
I currently have a 5.0 weighted GPA, a 3.9 unweighted GPA, am ranked 34 out of 521 in my class academically, and have earned a 34 on the ACT. I expect to improve in each over the next twelve months.
