Personal Statement
I have been overcoming people’s perceptions of me since I was a young kid. Over the years, from teachers to coaches, I have often been that overlooked individual, or the one whose ADHD has caused one too many annoyances. Admittedly, I also had to overcome in areas of my own personal development. However, when given the opportunity, my true value has shone through more often than not. As I grow older, I understand more and more how having to overcome adversity has ultimately been to my advantage. I have learned that hard work pays off in the end and I value the relationships I have had to develop as much as the ones that came naturally.
Now, as I continue to develop as a person, those experiences benefit me as I strive to be my best in the classroom and as an athlete. I set high goals for myself, and I am undeterred if others seem to think I am reaching too far. So far this year I have worked harder than ever and reaped the benefits of improved GPA, class rank, and swim times! I know I am still developing and I am still determined to improve. I know I will be a great addition to my future school as I pursue an engineering degree and even faster swim times. Don’t sleep on me. The best is yet to come.
