My swimming journey started when I was 3 years old. I have been swimming for well over a decade and I have had my fair share of mistakes and hardships. Swimming has given me determination, discipline, a strong work ethic and a respect for work and how hard it is to achieve the things you want. Through years of hard training and many setbacks, I have learned the importance of perseverance in the face of challenges and have become a harder working person the longer I swim. Swimming also taught me the value of teamwork and how to push others and inspire my teammates to push harder and do better. Doing an 'individual' sport has taught me respect and the feeling of losing which has made me a well-rounded person and someone willing to accept setbacks and try again with a new approach.
My team placed top 5 in TAPPS division 3 for two years in a row while I have been on the team, and I have placed top five overall in the same championship as an individual. This year I've just completed regionals and places first in 200 Medley Relay, 400 Yard Free Relay, 100 Back, and third in 200 Free. I move on to the Texas state competition in two weeks.
I participate in Wharton Business Competition and the Duke of Edinburgh Award. I also participate in the Science Olympiad and Chemistry Olympiad. I have completed my International GCSEs and currently doing my International Baccalaureate degree to raise my education standards and shape me into a more well rounded person than I already am. I lead my school representing one of four 'houses' and present to a portion of the school every other Friday.
In college, I hope to continue to swim while also keeping my grades up as I aspire to go down a medical path. I am eager to join a collegiate swim team and push myself and my new teammates to new heights and make a meaningful contribution to the college community along with succeeding academically and achieving my career goals.
