To Whom it may concern,
It is my honor to write this letter of recommendation for John David Cass. I have known John David for over 10 years and have had the pleasure of watching him grow and mature into the dependable, driven and dedicated young man he is today. I have been allowed to see John David grow in multiple aspects. I have seen him grow into being a leader in his school and community, I’ve watched him develop into a role model for younger swimmers, and I have had the honor of being his swim coach through both the Texas High Varsity Swim Team and Area Texarkana Aquatic Club.
As a four year member of our Varsity Tigershark Swim Team, John David has stepped up to lead his team with confidence, compassion, and courage. His work ethic and never quit attitude has been a huge motivator for our team. He arrives to the swimming pool before 6:00 am every morning and practices for 2 hours before his school day even starts, and this is just one of the practices he attends each day. John David returns in the afternoon for more weight training and in-pool laps. He is the first to offer a kind word to a struggling team mate or a vote of confidence when he sees a team mate needs it. John David is a dedicated swimmer and a genuine friend to all who encounter him.
John David is also active in several extra-curricular activities in our community. He is obviously a valued member of our Texas High Tigershark Swim Team. John David is active in his church youth group and he spends many of his weekends serving in the community by being a timer at our local club swim meets, working as a lifeguard at our local waterpark, or helping to set up and clean up after a special needs prom. John David always walks in ready for a challenge and with a good attitude. He successfully balances all his activities with his studies and service, showing responsibility and maturity.
John David’s ability to read a situation and respond with understanding and kindness is rivaled only by his athletic accomplishments and personal strengths. His compassion and charisma are beyond his years and he is well-loved by his peers, as well as all those who have had the pleasure of teaching or coaching him. John David enjoys a challenge and will rise to the top of any group of students. While John David is tender hearted, that does not dampen his competitiveness. He does not back down from things others see as difficult and refuses to be outworked.
